Trick or Treachery (Murder, She Wrote #14) by Donald Bain

Murder she Wrote

Did you know that there are Murder, She Wrote books? Similar to the TV show, each book Jessica ends up in the middle of a murder and eventually solves the crime. I’ve read a few of these books and they are perfect if you are looking for a light read with a side of mystery. Trick or Treachery would be a perfect Halloween read!

Jessica Fletcher and the town of Cabot Cove are eagerly waiting for their yearly Halloween party. Of course, the biggest dilemma at the start of the novel is finding the perfect costume to wear! The night comes and the party is cut short when a visitor of the town is found dead. No one knows the real reason why she was there, but now everyone is a suspect!

I didn’t love this novel as much as the earlier novels that I read in the series. I found that there was too many people to kept track of and it jumped without warning from past to present. It didn’t make for an easy transition.

Unless you are looking for a Halloween read, I would recommend another Murder, She Wrote novel. Both Gin & Daggers or Rum & Razors were some of my favourites!

2 calculators out of a potential 5. Disappointed that it wasn’t as good as other novels in the series.

  1. I loved watching Murder She Wrote as a kid and I’ve been trying to get my mom to read these books since she still records the show and watches episodes when she can. But I thought it was such a not well known thing, I’m surprised to see someone else blogging about the books haha.
Bummer this one didn’t work out for you.

  2. I love these books! I too was surprised to find out that the tv show had books. The tv show is still better than the books in my opinion (because Angela Lansbury), but they are still fun books to read!
