Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is Top Ten Books I Loved but Will Never Re-Read.
In the past, I never re-read any books (only exception would be Harry Potter). This year, I wanted to re-read one old favourite every month and so far I loved the books even more then I did the first time.
These are the top ten books that I loved, but don’t have any desire to re-read them now.
11/22/63 by Stephen King – Is it bad that I won’t read a book again because of it’s length? It was a good book, but way too big and heavy. It was a before bed book since it was too large to travel!
Burn for Burn by Jenny Han – John Tucker Must Die in book form! By the end of the series, the books got a bit weird, so I won’t be visiting the series any time soon.
Divergent by Veronica Roth – I really enjoyed the first book in the series, however based on the end of the series, I would never re-read the series. I think alot of people will agree with me on this one!
Friends Forever by Danielle Steel – I forget how I stumbled across this one. While reading on vacation, I was shocked by the tragic events in the book, especially when I thought it was about best friends. It’s one of those books that I really enjoyed at the time, but I don’t think I would enjoy if I read it today.
In the Blood by Lisa Unger – I loved this book because of all the twists and turns, but I don’t think I would enjoy it as much since I still remember the twists. Maybe I’ll re-read in a few years, when the twists are a bit hazy.
My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult – I saw the movie trailer for My Sister’s Keeper and I knew I had to read the book. I cried my eyes out at the end of the novel and it’s not an experience that I would like to repeat!
The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown – I love this series and really enjoy the puzzle solving aspect using well known historical artifacts. I’m not in a rush to re-read this book any time soon.
The Selection by Kiera Cass – I gave the Selection 5 stars?! Haha I flew through this book and was super entertained. Don’t think I’ll be re-reading.
Wedding Night by Sophie Kinsella – I’m surprised I gave this one a 5 star rating on Goodreads, I think I found it really funny. It’s not one that I would ever plan to read again.
What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty – The first book that I loved by Moriarty. It would be lower down on my list of re-reads, since I would re-read Big Little Lies or The Husband’s Secret over What Alice Forgot.
Do you like to re-read books that you previously loved? Are there any book that you loved but wouldn’t read again?
I do not usually re-read except children’s books to my grandchildren. There are just so many books I want to read and know I will never have time for.

I agree, there are so many new books that I want to read that it’s hard to put time aside for old favourites.

I judge myself for giving The Selection 5 stars at one point too! IDK what I was thinking, I blame it on my youth. (I say knowing I am 29 and was probably older when I read it the first time, too …)

Hahaha I’m glad I’m not the only one! I told myself that I can’t change a book’s rating unless I have reread it. I’m not going to rereading The Selection, so it’s going to have a 5 star rating forever!

Yes, I agree about Divergent! Also, I loved The Selection when I first read the series. I don’t know how I would feel now that I’m older…

Totally agree! I think there are a lot of books and series that I enjoyed when I was younger that I wouldn’t like today.

Yeah, it makes me sad sometimes. Oh well, maybe I’ll have kids someday. They can read them and then we can discuss them. 🙂

I actually have reread My Sister’s Keeper….multiple times actually, I think it helps that I don’t usually physically cry at books though!

I ugly cried during My Sister’s Keeper! Maybe it wouldn’t be that bad since I know the ending, but I don’t want to risk it!
