TBR Thursday is a meme hosted by by Kimberly at KimberlyFayeReads. This is a weekly meme where you highlight a book from your TBR pile that has been on your TBR for a while, or just need some feedback on that book.

This week I am featuring a series as opposed to a novel. I really need help deciding if I should continue reading the Prey/Lucas Davenport series by John Sandford. I’ve read 5 of the novels and they started off amazing, but have since fallen short. The problem is that I currently have 6 novels in the series sitting on my book shelf. Here the blurb for Secret Prey (the 9th novel in the series):

Secret Prey.jpg

The company chairman lay dead in the woods, his orange hunting jacket punctured by a bullet at close range. Around him stood the four executives with whom he had been hunting, each with a reason not to be sorry about the man’s death. A classic murder mystery, it would seem: the kind where the detective gathers everyone together at the end and solves the case.

But Lucas Davenport knows it’s not going to be that easy. There are currents running through this group, hints and whispers of something much greater than the murder of a single man. Some time soon, unless he could stop it, there would be other deaths – and Davenport can’t help but wonder if maybe the final death might be his own …

So what do you think? Should I continue the series? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. It has me intrigued. I think it would be worth reading. You can always DNF if you can’t get into it and at least you will know that you’re not missing out. 🙂 Also, if you like this type of book then Daniel Cole is an author worth checking out. 🙂
