Well Karin Slaughter has done it again. There is a reason why she is my favourite author! In the 5th novel in the Will Trent series (3rd novel involving characters from the Grant County series), the readers get more of an in depth look into all of the characters as well as a thrilling mystery.

I love all of the characters and their interactions were the highlight of the novel. Faith’s mother has been kidnapped, so with Faith dealing with her family, Will and Amanda were leading the case. Their banter back and forth was so funny and it was interesting the way that they processed the case together. Sara is also back and I love her involvement with the case. Side note: the handshake scene had me laughing!

I don’t want to get too much into the mystery, but of course it was a thriller! I wasn’t sure how it was going to end, but the ending had me shocked! I was surprised by all of the connections and how Will got some closure since the case was related to one of his earlier drug cases.

Wow what a novel. I am so in love with this series. If you’ve never read the Grant Country or Will Trent series, stop right here and go and read them.

In the 4th novel in the Will Trent series, we are back with Will Trent and Sara Linton and they are in Sara’s hometown of Grant County. I love that we get to back to Grant County and connect with the previous characters. Lena Adams is someone that I have such a love/hate relationship with and of course it continues in this novel. I did miss Faith, but did like to see how Will could manage being without his partner.

The mystery is really good, but it takes a backseat to the personal relationships that the characters have with one another. It has been four years since a major event occurred, but it hasn’t felt like much time has passed when we see the emotions that the characters still have. We get to see Will Trent’s view as an outsider and also mourn alongside the characters.

The ending to me was shocking in many ways and I loved that I had no idea what was going to happen. Even though, the mystery wasn’t the focus point, I still wanted to know what happened to Allison Spooner and what the heck was happening to the Grant County police force.

Undone (Will Trent #3) by Karin Slaughter

Yay, it’s finally here – the merge between the Grant County series (starting Sara Linton) and the Will Trent series! I really enjoy both Sara and Will so I was very excited to start reading the novel where they come together. If you are planning to read this series, it’s very important to read Grant County first and then start with this novel. It’s confusing, but so worth it with all of the surprises that happen.

Sara is working in Atlanta and is treating Faith, who is the partner of Will Trent, after Faith fainted at work. During that time, a woman comes into the ER who was just hit by a car and has injuries that Sara has never seen before.

I really enjoyed all of the characters in this novel – Sara, Will, Faith and Amanda – and I loved seeing them all work together. I did guess the twist/bad guy at the end of the novel, but it didn’t take away from my experience at all.

Warning – minor spoilers: there was one sex scene between Will Trent and his wife, Angie, where it can be seen as rape. It was very uncomfortable to read as I did see it as rape (no means no). For those that are also uncomfortable with this, it’s best to skip this novel.

Fractured is the second novel in the Will Trent series and features Will Trent, a detective in the GBI as well as his new partner Faith. The highlight in the novel is the characters. I enjoyed both Will and Faith and seeing them struggle as they go from individual detectives to partners. Both Will and Faith aren’t perfect and are flawed, but that’s what draws them to me.

The mystery was also really well done. Emma is a teenage girl who has gone missing after her best friend was found brutally murdered. I also enjoyed the scenes with Emma’s parents and how they each handled their grief in different ways. The mystery had multiple layers, which I enjoyed how Slaughter slowly peeled them away.
