What would make the perfect man?
That’s the deliciously racy topic that Jaine Bright and her three girlfriends are pondering one night at their favorite after-hours hot spot: Mr. Perfect. Would he be tall, dark, and handsome? Caring and warmhearted — or will just muscular do? As their conversation heats up, they concoct a tongue-in-cheek checklist that becomes an overnight sensation, spreading like wildfire at work and sizzling along e-mail lines.
But what began as a joke among friends turns deadly serious when one of the four women is murdered….Turning to her neighbor, an unpredictable police detective, for help, Jaine must unmask a killer to save her friends — and herself. Now, knowing whom to trust and whom to love is a matter of survival — as the dream of Mr. Perfect becomes a chilling nightmare.

I was at a used book store over the summer and I stumbled across the Linda Howard section. There was a ton of books and I eventually read the back of Mr. Perfect. It sounded good and reminded me of the Women’s Murder Club series by James Patterson. The best part – it was only $1!
It took me by surprise how much romance and graphic intimacy scenes are in this novel. I wasn’t expecting it and I’m not much of a romance fan, so I could of done without all of the extra parts.
Behind all of those scenes, there is a pretty good mystery! Even though I thought I knew where the book was heading, I was surprised by the end. I also enjoyed the characters and their friendship with one another. It was realistic and refreshing.
3 calculators out of a potential 5. A bit too much romance for me, but overall an enjoyable read.

I have found some great new-to-me-authors at the used bookstore. This one sounds good.

Yes, it does seem good storylines tend to lay the romance on a little thick taking away from the story. I’m always disappointed with that.

I read the first half of the blub and thought I absolutely needed this one because I also have one of those lists. Then I read the second half and decided the murder part might be a bit much for me.

You may be right…the focus of the book shifts from the list to the murder.

I used to love the clearance section of the bookstore…so many possibilities. Now I’m a book hoarder and can’t buy any. I think at one time I had this book on my shelf because the cover is so familiar!

That’s funny! I tend to return the books that I get from the used book store and get new ones!

I think I’ll add this to my TBR. I love romance and some good crime/mystery (although I usually prefer that as TV shows). Great find 🙂

I’m sad there isn’t a used bookstore near me, but I have fun browsing through the books at my local Goodwill

Nice review Amanda. I read this one a long time ago. In fact, I think this was the first Linda Howard book I read. I forgot how descriptive it was. Used bookstores and sales are amazing. Enjoy your finds.
