Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard

Mr Perfect

What would make the perfect man?

That’s the deliciously racy topic that Jaine Bright and her three girlfriends are pondering one night at their favorite after-hours hot spot: Mr. Perfect. Would he be tall, dark, and handsome? Caring and warmhearted — or will just muscular do? As their conversation heats up, they concoct a tongue-in-cheek checklist that becomes an overnight sensation, spreading like wildfire at work and sizzling along e-mail lines.

But what began as a joke among friends turns deadly serious when one of the four women is murdered….Turning to her neighbor, an unpredictable police detective, for help, Jaine must unmask a killer to save her friends — and herself. Now, knowing whom to trust and whom to love is a matter of survival — as the dream of Mr. Perfect becomes a chilling nightmare.

I was at a used book store over the summer and I stumbled across the Linda Howard section. There was a ton of books and I eventually read the back of Mr. Perfect. It sounded good and reminded me of the Women’s Murder Club series by James Patterson. The best part – it was only $1!

It took me by surprise how much romance and graphic intimacy scenes are in this novel. I wasn’t expecting it and I’m not much of a romance fan, so I could of done without all of the extra parts.

Behind all of those scenes, there is a pretty good mystery!  Even though I thought I knew where the book was heading, I was surprised by the end. I also enjoyed the characters and their friendship with one another. It was realistic and refreshing.

3 calculators out of a potential 5. A bit too much romance for me, but overall an enjoyable read.

  1. I read the first half of the blub and thought I absolutely needed this one because I also have one of those lists. Then I read the second half and decided the murder part might be a bit much for me.

  2. I used to love the clearance section of the bookstore…so many possibilities. Now I’m a book hoarder and can’t buy any. I think at one time I had this book on my shelf because the cover is so familiar!

  3. Nice review Amanda. I read this one a long time ago. In fact, I think this was the first Linda Howard book I read. I forgot how descriptive it was. Used bookstores and sales are amazing. Enjoy your finds.
