Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, featuring a different top 10 theme each week. This week’s topic is Books I Disliked/Hated but Am Really Glad I Read.
This is a tricky topic! There aren’t too many books that I disliked, but glad I read. I’m posting my top ten somewhat “popular” books that I’m glad I read, not because I enjoyed them, but because I can contribute to the conversation when people talk about them!
What are some books that you disliked, but are glad that you read them?
ACoTaR is one I don’t have strong feelings on, but am glad to be apart of the “group” 😂 though book two was great for me 😍

I’m debating reading the second book. My friend is reading it now so I’m waiting to see what she thinks!

lol part of that “group” Can I be part of it too since I really did not like it. I could not finish it 😛

Haha of course you can! Sometimes you just need to start a book to understand what others are talking about!

I loved Confessions of a Shopaholic, but then again I’m a huge fan of Sophie Kinsella in general.

I love her writing style, but I couldn’t stand the main character’s reckless decisions! I much prefer her stand alone novels

ACOTAR IS ON MY LIST TOO!

Fifty Shades got me a little bit there. I totally understand why people don’t like it. I really like the book but to each their own. I’m not sure if I am plan on reading any of the other books on your list,

I wouldn’t recommend any! Fifty Shades was just one of the those books that everyone was reading at the time!

Oh I know. I just like it.

Then She Was Gone has been on my “maybe one day” pile for a few months now.

I’ve seen so many positive amazing reviews but I just didn’t like it!

Oh man, I love some of these books! haha ACOTAR being one (although the second and third were way better), and Then She Was Gone is another. I still have A Darker Shade of Magic on my TBR and have heard very mixed reviews about it so I’m curious about which way I’ll lean on that one.

I totally feel that I am in the minority with these books! Most people loved them but I couldn’t get into them!

How interesting! I hated the 50 Shades series, and Sophie Kinsella’s work is pretty bad too; but i’m interested to know why you dislike Game of Thrones? I haven’t read the series but have always wanted to!

The biggest problem for me was that there was way too many characters to keep track of. It was hard to understand what was happening when I forgot the character’s past. I say go for it (there is a character page at the back of the novel, which of course I stumbled upon after I finished!).

Wow! I’ve seen a few people with ACOTAR on their list! I’m so shocked because it seems that everyone loves that book so much. Don’t get me wrong, I liked that book but love Mass’s other series much more. I have some of these books on my TBR. Haha.. I read Fifty Shades and also disliked it.

I know, I thought everyone loved it as well and that I was in the minority!

I’ve been seeing ACOTAR on a lot of lists today. I love it and I know a lot of others do too, but it’s nice to see differing perspectives! Great list!

Great list as well! I enjoyed The Selection but kind of question my book tastes on that one lol.

I agree on 50 Shades and Shopaholic. My friend read The Nanny and hated it. Everytime I see someone post they are about to read it I cringe about and wish them luck (on the inside, I would never ruin a book for someone!)

I had such high hopes for the Nanny and was sadly disappointed 😦

I keep debating on reading 50 shades or not, just to see what the experience is like – but I can’t bring myself to do it. Great list!

Oh you have to read it for the experience! It’s fun to hate read it lol

I love ADSOM, so I’m sad to see you didn’t but to each their own, the wonderful thing about reading is that there is so much variety out there. I wasn’t that keen on ACOTAR, but I liked ACOMAF better.

Interesting list. I really like 50 Shades but know that a lot of people didn’t. I enjoyed a few others on your list too. It’s not bad thing that different books suit different people. It would be a boring predictable world if we all liked the same.

I was going to add Fifty Shades to mine too, lol. It’s so funny that so many people have included ACOTAR. I thought it was just me, lol.

Me too! But I am glad I read it so I don’t feel left out with the others that didn’t like it as well!

Great list I loved some of these books as well and I totally understand why you couldn’t get into some of them. I know some of these books are not for every reader and that is totally ok. Thank you so much for sharing your awesome post.

Bummer about Then She Was Gone it’s sitting in my TBR pile right now! I liked ADSOFM and ACOTAR but honestly as the series kept going I’ve liked them less.

That’s too bad, I hate it when a series goes downhill after you enjoyed the first novel. A ton of people love Then She Was Gone, so I hope you are one of those!

I’m with you on A Game of Thrones! I’m glad I read it, but… definitely wasn’t a favorite. And I agree that some books are nice to have read just so that it’s possible to participate in related discussions,

I absolutely loved the Fifty Shades trilogy – not for the sex but for the backwards Beauty & the Beast theme I saw. It was nice to see the woman saving the man, for once. I have a thing against damsels in distress but this series really seemed to show the woman helping to save the man instead 🙂 Just my opinion. I haven’t read ACOTAR yet but it’s still on my TBR.

I didn’t even think of that! Hope you enjoy ACOTAR!
